There’s been a long debate about whether to phase out FM technology in favor of HD and online radio. Each option has its pros and cons, and for radio operators, maintaining all three can be costly.
In Europe, Norway has already switched off FM, and Switzerland is set to follow soon. In the US, however, FM and AM will continue to run alongside newer technologies for a while.
